To fully appreciate the spectacular views we suggest you take the world's longest single span chairlift. Remember to bring out your camera to capture the stunning vista of the Reserve. Visit the Queen Victoria Museum and the Art Gallery located at Royal Park and Inveresk (a short campervan drive from Launceston’s CBD). Round Trip To Launceston In A Campervan Rental

Day 1 - Launceston
(Upon your arrival at Launceston airport head across to the depot to collect the campervan hired by you. This is Tasmania’s 2nd largest city and the temperature here is relatively mild averaging from 18° degrees in winter and 25° in summer.) Nestled at the head of the Tamar Valley this city boasts some stunning vistas with beautiful parks and gardens. Camp the evening at one of the picturesque campsites near Narawntrapu National Park. We suggest you pre-book your campsites as Tasmania is very busy with campers all year round especially in summer.

Day 2 - Launceston
Most of the tourist attractions are close to the city and you can spend an entire day exploring all that this city has to offer. A trip to Launceston is not complete without a visit to Cataract Gorge Reserve. At the Gorge you can take a stroll along the pathway along the cliff face or the Alexandra Suspension Bridge and appreciate the surging waters below. Enjoy the chairlift ride that spans across the huge basin and remember to take photographs of the spectacular views of the gorge.
In the afternoon you can visit the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery. The museum is housed in 2 areas at Royal Park and Inveresk. Entry is free here and it remains open each day from 10 to 4pm except Good Friday and Christmas.

Day 3 and 4 - Launceston to Swansea
Within a couple of hours after hiring a campervan, drive east on the Midland Highway and you will reach Swansea, the perfect base to explore the East Coast and the surrounding regions along the Heritage Highway. Accommodation here is cheaper than at Coles Bay and there are a number of beachfront campsites without the big price tag. Freycinet Peninsula and Wineglass Bay is a short half an hour’s drive north in your campervan rental. Drive up to the car park and you can walk some 50 meters to the pristine white sandy beach and blue waters. You can also get a different view by driving up to Cape Tourville. We suggest you take a short walk to the lighthouse for amazing views across the coastline. Definitely worth a photograph.

Day 4 - Day 5 - Swansea to Port Arthur
(on route to Port Arthur stop by at the Colonial and Convict Exhibition in Copping. Continue to Eaglehawk Neck - a narrow strip of land flanked by ocean and forest.) During the convict days this passage was impassable and heavily guarded by soldiers and ferocious dogs. Drive your rented campervan to Pirates Bay for magnificent views of the rugged coastline or visit the Officer’s Quarters oldest wooden military building in Australia. Take a self-guided tour in your campervan rental to see the historic site and be amazed at how the convicts lived here. If you're spending a night at Port Arthur you can book for the 'ghost tour' – a different experience.

Day 6 - Port Arthur to Hobart
Drive your campervan hire Launceston for about 90 minutes from Port Arthur to Hobart, which leaves you plenty of time to make the journey. This short trip offers some of the best sights in Tasmania. Day 8 - Hobart to Strahan
was the former port on the west coast of Tasmania and located at the edge of Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. There is just so much to do – take a cruise on the Gordon River to the World Heritage area or board the West Coast Wilderness Railway to learn more about the region and experience its natural beauty. Alternatively, take a scenic flight or join a sea kayaking tour or bushwalk for an up-close wildlife encounter. At the end of the day walk along Strahan’s waterfront to appreciate the artworks of local artists in the many galleries and stop of sample the fine local food and wine.

Day 9 - Strachan to Cradle Mountain
is Tasmania's most famous wilderness area and is the starting point for the Overland Track, a 6 day walk that will take you across the Cradle Mt - Lake St Clair National Park. You will find one of the best known walks the 6km Dove Lake Circuit a very easy going track which includes the Ballroom Forest, a magical rainforest. This walk is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Day 10 - Cradle Mountain to Smithton
Smithton sits in the shadow of The Nut, which is a volcanic plug that has risen about 200 meters out of the ocean on a nearby peninsula. On some clear days, you may see Perkins and Robbins Islands off in the Bass Strait. Smithton is a pretty, little coastal town and on your drive in your campervan, you will pass other picturesque coastal towns such as Penguin and Burnie.
